IN-HAUS
SPRING 2020
PROJECT STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT, BRANDING, PACKAGING, WEB DESIGN
In-Haus is an online service that allows a user to customize a museum-quality gallery for any personal space from the comfort of their own home. Once on the In-Haus website, the user is able to personalize your own gallery kit by selecting fine-art prints based on a variety of carefully curated groupings, gallery sizes, and historical insight. The user gets to choose from a wide variety of artists, artistic movements, and current exhibitions on display in museums such as the MoMA or the MET. By partnering with well-known art museums and their print shops, the user can choose between these art history genres in order to decorate their space with art they are visually and academically interested in. In-Haus creates a personalized kit based on the user’s selections which includes an ‘about the gallery’ booklet, ‘how to’ set up your gallery booklet, the art prints, and the chosen materials necessary to hang the art pieces.
When developing the concept of In-Haus, my main goal was to answer the question “how can I make art museums and fine art more accessible and digestible for those who do not have the resources to enjoy them?” As a design major and art history minor, I wanted to combine my own passions and create a tool that helps break down the elitism surrounding these creative fields. Fine art has historically been a profession associated with pomp and circumstance and has only more recently integrated into our timeline via common culture and media. I want In-Haus to continue contemporary sentiments of breaking down the cult of the artist and allow individuals to enjoy fine artworks and appreciate their rich histories from the comfort of their own homes. It is my hope that In-Haus will inspire individuals to broaden their perspective and appreciation of fine art and feel more open to participating in these creative fields.
