Mary and Carter Thatcher Prize Honorable Mention at Chrysalis: The 21st Thatcher Art + Architecture Annual
This project focuses on using a collage-scan technique in order to transform images into a series of pieces that are individually unique. Using Bay Area artist Rene Yanez’s collages as inspiration, each composition builds off of the previous in order to generate a cohesive yet dissimilar series. Being very inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe’s life and his portrait photography, I decided to manipulate his own image in a way that plays with how we objectify the human form.
